The 2nd Belt and Road Youth English-Speaking Competition


  • ❖ Held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center in 2020
  • ❖ Attracted about 200 contestants from more than 20 countries
  • ❖ Offline preliminary competitions in different countries and online grand finals

The 3rd Belt and Road Youth English-Speaking Competition


  • ❖ We came in Guangzhou in 2021 to tell Chinese stories well
  • ❖ Attracted about 101 contestants from more than 51 countries
  • ❖ Speech competitions + ice-breaking activities + sightseeing in Chengdu

The 4th Belt and Road Youth English-Speaking Competition

  • ❖ During the competition, the organizing committee has taken contestants to various cultural sites throughout China to help them better understand China and the Chinese culture.
  • ❖ Previous cultrual exploration events have taken global youth to: • Zhengzhou, Henan Province • Quanzhou, Fujian Province • Suzhou, Jiangsu Province

MicUp! English Speaking Competition Grand Final Thailand 2023

  • ❖ The regional final of the "21st Century Cup" International English-Speaking Competition--also known as the fifth China Daily Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition kicked off in Bangkok on Saturday.

  • ❖ Su Yati Eain from Singapore International School and Makhawan Wiriya from Varee Chiangmai School were crowned the champions of Myanmar and Thailand respectively.

MicUp! English Speaking Competition – Regional Final Thailand 2024

  • ❖ Contestants from various schools and universities across Thailand, along with international participants from Myanmar, Nepal, and the Philippines, showcased their exceptional public speaking skills in this enriching and educational event.

  • ❖ Congratulations to Thanh Theerapasiri from Regents International School Pattaya, Thailand, and Myat Noe Phyu from MCTA: RVi Academy Mandalay, Myanmar, for their outstanding achievements. Thanh and Myat Noe Phyu were crowned champions in the Junior and Youth categories, respectively, at the MicUp! English Speaking Competition – Regional Final Thailand 2024.

🌟 MicUp! 2024 Champions Reunite on the Global Stage! 🌍🎤

  • On 21 October 2024, seven outstanding champions who proudly represented Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Nepal at the MicUp! English Speaking Competition in Bangkok reunited at the Global Final of the Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. 🇨🇳✨

  • A heartfelt congratulations to Myat Noe Phyu from Myanmar 🇲🇲 , who impressed the international judges and was crowned First Runner-Up at BRESC 2024! 🏆🌟

Objectives
To promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and countries joined the Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition, the competition is distinctive for its multicultural and youthful nature and is committed to building a platform for young people to interact with and learn from each other globally.

Competition Structure
Students who study in Thailand aged between
10 - 15 and 16 - 27 years old.

There are 2 groups for the competition.



Competition Period
  • Pre-Selection Round: 2 May to 30 June 2025 (online video submission period):

  • Semi-Finals (On-site): 14, 15 July 2025, (online semi-finals can be arranged for students not able to go to Thailand)

  • Regional Final (On-site): 30 August 2025


    • Global Final (of the “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition & “Belt and Road” Youth English-Speaking Competition) will be in October, in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Duration (including some side events such as culture exchange tour) will be ranging from 3 to 5 days.

Topic:

“As global citizens in the digital age,
how can we overcome bias
as we build a connected world?”

Speech Script:
  • Junior: about 300 words
  • Youth: about 500 words
Video Limit:

No longer than 4 minutes

Submissions:
Video + Speech Script

The content of the script and video must not contain direct reference to the name of the contestant or contestant’s school. Once submitted, the script and video cannot be changed, unless approved by the Organizing Committee.
